    This is a great backpacking loop. I did this with a friend in early October this year. Rugged terrain. Lots of elevation change - believe it or not about 4,000 feet total over the 24 mile loop. A very hilly area located on the Ohio River in southern Indiana. My favorite trail in Indiana.

    How long is that near-vertical climb on South Kinsman? It looks scary. Is that in your “top 5” most difficult places on the AT? I see videos of Wildcat too. Another vertical climb. You have a great positive attitude. 😊

    I began following and subscribed after the game ended, but I hope to catch up. I constantly flip ahead and read the ending of every book I have read, so knowing how it ends is no bother. Were the trails in Georgia more challenging than the Smokies?

    • @Bluehathiker
      @Bluehathiker 9 месяцев назад

      The Whites were the most challenging. Georgia is tough because it’s the beginning, the Smokies are tough because of the shelters. Basically it’s all tough and never gets easy. Still a great time though!

    It was fun to watch your adventure! Those conditions on the Trail were beyond anything that has occurred in the past. You pushed and accomplished all that you could within the constraints of off trail life. I started an End to End of the Long Trail and was forced to halt it. We have a responsibility to protect the trail and ourselves. I was fortunate enough to shift the hike to the AT and help my Trail Brother complete the last 188 miles and Summit Katahdin August 3rd. Maine is the toughest state even when conditions are great! Yet, it also can be the most beautiful experience of all. When the time is right and the trail is ready, I am sure you will return! Good luck with all that you are dealing with. Give yourself Grace and as I always say, Keep the Faith and Keep HikN^!

    Fun fact: The brownish color of the falls is caused by the resin in the roots of the cedar trees in the marshlands where the headwaters of the river form. (Edit) This is why the nickname "root beer falls" is often used.

    Followed your trip and really enjoyed the way you captured the trail and the experience. What an adventure! I hope that you are feeling more yourself. If not, you might want to get tested for tick borne diseases. Docs here in Indiana don't often think of that as possible cause of problems.

    First, YOU are not a disappointment, so please don't think that. Whatever is happening back home needs your attention. You're doing the right thing. The trail will always be there. So once it's taken care of come.back. 267 miles is doable. You can even do SOBO if time permits or next year. Be proud of all you have accomplished, not haven't gotten to yet. I'm so proud of you and all you have done. Hopefully, you'll get a Lymes test and rest, and you'll be feeling better without the stress of the trail and deadlines. Just thinking about home, life, trail, and logistics is enough to make anyone sick. You have been amazing, and your videos are awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the content and work it took to take us along. Fantastic journey 👏👏👏🎉🎊🥳 looking forward to what you have in the future. God Bless you and what lies ahead for you. 😊

    Have been with you since you before you started this adventure. You did a great job, mental health is the most important thing that you can do for yourself. You made the right choice in stopping where you were, you could see the change on your face when you made your decision. A face at peace. I have no doubt that you will return and finish the AT. Good luck with your next chapter in life, a lot of times, I feel, change happens for a reason. We may not understand it at the time but it will all work out.

    My brother…just so you know, you are not alone in what’s happening on the trail. Since New Hampshire I’ve completely fell apart, exhausted, lost my hiking partner of 1400 miles, depressed a lot and only able to do 10 miles and hitting camp completely exhausted. I think the weather has completely wore us down. But anyway your an amazing hiker and it was a pleasure getting to know you at Uncle Johnny’s in what seemed a thousand years ago. When you decide to come back to trail I’ll see you when you pass me. lol. Be well brother.
